Visa In Hand!

It is official: I have my visa and all appears to be correct!  Everything that I sent along that was not on the Consulate checklist was returned to me.  My original NOA and passport (obviously) were returned.

Can't believe it's only three weeks away...  I need to start packing, but there's still one more week of my camp counseling position left.  Interestingly, a camp of middle school-aged Korean students moved into the dorm I am staying in.  I don't see them much except at breakfast.  I hope they're having a good time here!

An Exception in the Sorting Process Has Occurred

No!  No!  An exception in the sorting process has not occurred!

So apparently UPS was awesome and picked up my visa and passport to return to me from the Korean Consulate General yesterday (supposed to be here today), but then I received a tracking information update that an error had occurred.  As far as I can tell, someone forgot to put my package on the UPS truck heading my way.

I had a mini-panic attack because I thought my package had somehow been lost in transit (thank goodness I did get insurance... still, imagine the headache!), but then I actually read the e-mail update. Probably the best part of the experience is that the e-mail also said "UPS has taken corrective action."  Haha!  Meaning they're making dang sure that it is on the next truck out here.

So my visa is now scheduled to arrive here tomorrow.  Another EPIKer mentioned that the Consulate had messed up their gender (marked male instead of female after having some other processing issues as well - rotten luck!) so I'm really praying that is not going to happen to me.  Bleh!  Don't want to have to run around and mess with that!

Visa On It's Way To Me!

Just received a call today from the Korean Consulate General in Chicago that my visa has been processed and is ready for pick-up.  I had to call UPS to schedule a pick-up (another $6.96 for today before 5PM), but my visa and passport are now on their way with no issues.  I sent my visa off on last Tuesday (7/16), it arrived at the Consulate on Wednesday (7/17), and exactly one week later (today, 7/24), it has been picked up by UPS for delivery.  Phew!  Can't wait to have it in hand though!

Pre-Orientation Complete!

Just finished my EPIK Pre-Orientation Course lessons and took the test.  Just need to print out the certificate now and add it to my records to take it with me to Korea to show my head teacher.

Visa Shipped

Within 24 hours of receiving my contract, I got all my documents together and sent them off to the Korean Consulate General in Chicago.

Contract In Hand

I received my contract and NOA yesterday!  I'm not sure whether I'm terrified or excited at this point.  A whole year abroad?  I've only been to Canada!

Woke up this morning to find an e-mail with a tracking number for my notice of appointment (NOA)/contract package from my EPIK Coordinator!
